Surgeon

Roland Barrowman is an Australian-trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with dual degrees in Dentistry and Medicine. He completed his Dental degree at the University of Otago and his Medical degree at the University of Melbourne before undertaking specialist training in Victoria.

His practice spans the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including complex dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants and bone augmentation, facial trauma, pathology management and orthognathic surgery for dentofacial deformity and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Roland has a particular focus on minimally invasive orthognathic surgery. Through meticulous surgical technique and advanced digital planning workflows, he aims to minimise tissue disruption while achieving precise skeletal correction and airway optimisation. This approach supports reduced post-operative swelling, improved comfort, skeletal stability and earlier functional recovery.

He completed advanced fellowship training in facial trauma at Royal Perth Hospital and subspecialty fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery in the United Kingdom.

Roland is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Austin Health, where he manages complex facial deformity, trauma and oncologic cases. He serves as Supervisor of Training within the unit, overseeing and mentoring advanced surgical trainees.

Roland is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based surgical care in a calm, respectful, and patient-centred manner.
